Until April 2011 Peter Joseph used to be the public face of the "Zeitgeist Movement". He more or less founded it through creating several documentary movies about topics which he thought needed more public attention. These lectures were conducted by Peter during public meetings of the Zeitgeist Movement

Part 1 : "Where are we now?" , July 25th 2009 , London / UK

In this lecture Peter talks about monetary dynamics and its consequences. He points out contradictions in the current economic system e.g. how increasing automation in the industry leads to less jobs and thus removes purchasing power. Another aspect is that really curing diseases like cancer is not in the interest of the system as money can only be made with sick people. The monetary incentive breeds corruption by design.

Peter continues to talk about culture and the relationship of human beings to their environment. He shows how the social system is conditioning people to behave in inhuman ways.

Part 2 : "Where are we going?" , November 15th 2009 , Fairfield / USA

In this lecture Peter explains why abundance, sustainability and efficiency are the enemies of profit. The established monetary system resists any kind of positive social change. Peter points out that ethics and competition are incompatible and that the current system generates parasites and prostitutes. Evolutionary baggage of the current system are laws, rights and paper proclamations. The government controls the population through threats and gives it the illusion of control through elections which only change the actors but never the system itself.

In the "Project Earth" section of the presentation Peter presents a systems approach to manage a planet in order to optimize resource usage and how it can be ensured that the basic necessities of everybody are met by a resource-based economy. Peter continues to present the "Venus Project" and the "Zeitgeist Movement". In this part he presents his take on how a transition from the current global society to a new one could happen.

Part 3 : "Social Pathology" , March 13th 2010 , New York / USA

In this lecture Peter talks about the pathology of our current social system. He evaluates the symptoms, and gives a prognosis as well as recommendations for its treatment. The current system institutes scarcity because scarcity equals profit. Especially the inherent scarcity of money leads to debt slavery and forces people to compete with each other in order to survive which leads to social imbalance. Peter shows a large variety of graphics showing how income inequality relates to different aspects of society (e.g. life expectancy, homicides, prison inmates, drug use, innovativeness, ...)

In his prognosis Peter points out incompatibility of the systemic demand for infinite growth to the limited resources of the planet. He continues to show why profit does not want change and that the system will try to capitalize on the collapse of civilization. The build-in short sightedness leads to more and more problems but again these problems can be capitalized on even if they cause suffering or mass death.

In the last part of the presentation Peter presents the "Venus Project" as a solution to the problems he pointed out.

 Part 4 : "When Normality Becomes Distortion" , October 8th 2011, California / USA

This lecture will consider the quality of our beliefs, actions and intents within the overarching context of what supports good public health, prosperity and sustainability and what does not. The subjects of Politics, Economics and Religious Philosophy will be broadly considered, with one basic question asked: Are the dominant views of reality today and the values that arise from them sustainable for the species' survival?
