Joel Bakan is a Professor of Law at the University of British Columbia, he also is an author, an attorney and a filmmaker.
This interview starts out with a discussion on Joel's aware-winning documentary "The Corporation" which analyzes the legal history of defining a corporation as a person and how the way corporations have to behave is very similar to how psychiatrists would diagnose a psychopath. When raising his own two children he realized how corporations became a powerful third force between him and his children leading to Joel felt like he was losing control of making the right choices for his children.
Joel talks about the history of corporate personhood, how forced advertising in schools has become normal in the US, how university finding through corporations is influencing the research, how children spent 8 hours a day with electronic media as well as the over-medication of children.
